HERE YOU WILL FIND THE LATEST NEWS and WATCHMODDING RESULTS FROM WATCHERIK

When it comes to watches, the question "which strap" is one of the most difficult to answer.

All types of straps have advantages, which is why they were invented. But not all straps are equal. And in this post, I'm going to explore both leather and metal watch straps, to see which is the perfect one for you!

Leather straps

We all know and love leather. The natural and soft feel of tanned cowhide feels almost pleasant. It is much more comfortable to wear than metal, comes in many more different styles, and adjusts a little over time to fit us better.

If you use a watch for more formal occasions, leather is often the best choice. It looks much more stylish and often matches the leather strap of your outfit. As any stylist will tell you, it's all about matching accessories! That's not to say that metal bands don't work for formal wear, but leather just has that extra style!

Leather bands are also less prone to loosening because of the buckle system they normally use. The pin can almost never come loose unless the hole in the leather is stretched.

Metal straps

Are a great alternative to leather. They somehow look more expensive, especially when you see them on high-end watches like Rolex and Omega.

However, fitting them is a bit more complicated, as you often have to remove links to get them to the optimum length. If you buy a watch in a shop, this is usually done there, but if you buy online, it's up to you to adjust the strap.

The clasps of metal bands can also be more prone to loosening if they get caught or suddenly hit something. The more expensive brands have tried to counter this problem with more elaborate and better-designed clasps - like the safety clasp.

So, there you have it. Watch straps are never easy to choose, but knowing the pros and cons certainly helps. See our overview of watches here>>
